THE THREE DRAGON SCHOOL OF SELF DEFENSE.
The Three Dragons is a concept that combines Martial Arts Fighting skills-70%, American Indian Survival and Lifestyle Arts-20% and the use of modern weapons-10%. All three are very important! By combining the three areas, we have produced a very strong and complete system of personal development. This concept gives the student a very effective over all self-defense/survival capability. But there is a lot more. The student can learn a pattern on which to base his life! The student must learn to live and act in balance with others, with nature and most important with themselves. THIS SCHOOL IS NOT FOR EVERYONE!!! You must be willing to forget a lot of preconceived 'Hollywood' ideas and other 'learned' techniques and opinions. The mind and your attitude are the most important individual tools that you must develop. Anyone, with the right instruction, can develop the skills necessary to survive almost any dangerous or life threatening situation. The only requirement is the will to do it!
One of the first lessons to learn is not to blindly follow the pack, following the crowd may be the easy thing to do but it may not be the right thing to do. If you see people running to the East you may want to go to the West! You must learn to see everything for yourself, interpret and evaluate what you see and act on that information. Then the student must learn to follow through on that action and take responsibility for that action. In nature, as in life, there are no excuses that work. Most mistakes are forever. The most basic skills are often the best.

STREET SMART-WILDERNESS WISE STREET SMART:
First recognize that there may be or could be a problem. Second be prepared beforehand, how you dress, how you act, how you walk, and the things you have with you. Dress to fit in and to be able to move. Third have a plan, that changes as you move along, so you will know how you will react to certain actions. You have to react! The attacker counts on you not taking action! Fourth always scan your environment, know where you are, where the exits are, the floor plan of the area, know who is around and how are they moving with your moves. Learn how to size up and analyze people and situations. Fifth learn to act on your feelings or instincts, rely on your senses.
YOUR APPEARANCE IS EVERYTHING. When you are out of your zone of safety, never appear to be preoccupied. Be observant and aware, look for signs of trouble. In a building while waiting for an elevator be aware who is around you. When the car arrives and the doors open make a decision if you are going to get in or not! When in a passenger car or a taxi, scan the rear mirror, the sides and ahead, even when you are a passenger. Keep track of where you are and where you are going. Always know who is around you, keep alert. When you are walking or are seated do the same thing. Next get rid of your mental distractions. There is a time to worry about problems in your life, but not now. Be mentally alert. Walk with your head up, scanning from side to side. Act on the information that you gain from your scans. Position yourself to be proactive instead of reactive. Use physical barriers, a car, moving across the street, distance, a tree or a mail box. The key is recognition and avoidance of problem areas.
Always have a confident attitude, but not a provocative or a challenging one. Do not make constant eye contact. Don't be aggressive until you need to be. Then you need to act with a force continuum, starting at a less than lethal response, maybe just leaving the area, to maximum, maybe the use of deadly force! Be aware of how a criminal picks a victim before an attack.
Try to always travel in a group. Everyone in the group should stay together, be serious and be aware of basic security. In a restaurant, never leave a drink or food unattended. Remember alcohol, drugs and other substances effect your judgment and your ability to defend yourself.
WILDERNESS WISE: As we get into the wilderness part of the program we want to divide it into two distinct parts, self preservation and wilderness preservation, both are important.
Being in the open, on a large lake, in the woods, in a mountainous area, in a desert, in a jungle area or other outdoor wilderness areas require a certain mind set. Each of these areas have their own dangers and their own rules! The areas may be called a park, a national park, a state game land, a historical trail, an Indian Reservation, a large lake or just an open area. It may consist of a small area or thousands of acres.
At one time a visitor had to contend only with the special characteristics of that area, the size, the terrain, animals, climate, accidents, storm activity or becoming lost. In addition now there could be fugitives, fringe religious groups, paramilitary groups, moonshiners, chop shop operators, drug operations, illegal game dealers or just hermits. Sometimes a group of drunks or drug users can pose a big problem. Any of these groups could have their 'own' areas staked out and protected by various means! Most of these people will be comfortable in their area, have certain wilderness skills, have some skills with weapons, be set up and prepared in their area and will not care if they have to kill someone or not. Do not under estimate how dangerous some of these people could be!
These areas could be protected by booby-traps, warning devices, dogs, armed guards, animal traps, electric fences, explosive traps or even line strung with fish hooks. Or a combination of these.
Our survival, both on the street and in a wilderness area depends on our ability to respond to the unexpected. An accident, a natural disaster, an unforeseen emergency, a criminal act or a terrorist act could leave many people helpless. The ability to provide our own food and shelter, to keep warm
